CRN Fees
The CBAA aims to deliver the CRN at a minimal cost, with substantial discounts to member stations. All programs on the CRN can be broadcast live or recorded and re-broadcast later.
Subscribers can also use portions of programs, provided credit is given to the original program maker. For example, stations that produce their own environmental programs may use relevant material broadcast on the CRN to supplement their own program.
There is no charge for the use of DDN (Digital Delivery Network) computers to capture satellite programs.
- Subscriber stations are required to supply up to date audited accounts to the CBAA. If accounts are not submitted, stations will be charged at the maximum rate.
- Stations that elect to pay their CRN subscription in annual upfront payment receive a 5% discount.
- National Radio News: The CRN fee allows subscribers to rebroadcast all content apart from National Radio News bulletins, for which an additional fee is charged. If broadcast of NRN bulletins is unavoidable due to the station using CRN as a sustaining service, stations may apply for an NRN fee exemption. Contact CRN staff for further information.
- Fully-licensed CBAA member stations are charged quarterly, at a rate of 0.6% of gross income - with a minimum fee of $150/qtr (plus GST) to a maximum of $475/qtr (plus GST).
- Part time aspirant members will be charged at a one-off rate of $150 per year (plus GST). Part-time aspirant non-members will be charged at the rate of $475 per year (plus GST).
- Full-time TCBL members will be charged at the rate of $300 (plus GST) in the first year, $400 (plus GST) in the second year of operation and each successive year until fully licensed.
- Non-member full-time TCBLs may use the service at a fee of $800 per quarter (plus GST).
- Non-members of the CBAA may use the service at a charge of $800 (plus GST) per quarter.
Payment
The CBAA does not charge for use of the three other satellite channels available via the same receiver unit: NIRS (11), RPH (12), & BBC (13), however you will need to negotiate a separate payment fee with the BBC for its service.
We invoice you for CRN (channel 14) at the end of each calendar quarter, for the following quarter. Please make sure we have your latest audited accounts, otherwise you may be charged the maximum rate.
Late Payment
Guided by the CBAA Debt Recovery Policy and Procedure (July 2009), the following steps will be taken:
- All subscriber stations with a 60 day debt will be sent the CBAA's debt recovery policy and procedure – if you receive this, please act promptly
- We will negotiate payment plans and ask that payments be made by direct debit
- CBAA member stations with outstanding fees over 120 days will have their CBAA membership expired. These stations will no longer receive the CRN membership discount
- Any subscriber station (CBBA member or otherwise) with outstanding fees over 240 days will have its CRN subscription terminated, and be asked to return CBF-allocated equipment
